Privacy Policy
- No account is required. There are no ads, and we never sell your data.
- Your vehicles, runs, track sessions and lap maps are stored on your device.
- A few things do leave your device: anonymous usage analytics, leaderboard entries you choose to submit, an approximate location for a weather lookup, and subscription checks. Each is explained below.
This policy explains how Smooth Path Digital S.R.L. ("we", "us") handles information in the Race Stats app for iOS and Android. Smooth Path Digital S.R.L. is responsible for your information as described here.
1. Information stored on your device
Your vehicles (name, type, colour, weight, maintenance dates and notes), run history with speed curves, personal bests, track sessions (lap times, lean angles, speed, and the GPS line of your best lap), leaderboard display name and app settings are stored locally on your device. We do not upload them to our servers. You can delete them at any time: delete a vehicle in the Garage, use Settings → Reset Statistics, or uninstall the app.
2. Location and motion sensors
With your permission the app uses your device's GPS to measure speed, time runs, detect laps and draw lap maps, and it uses the motion sensors to measure g-force and lean angle. This processing happens on your device.
Weather correction. While a run is being measured, the app sends your approximate location (rounded to about 100 m) to Open-Meteo to fetch the current temperature, pressure and humidity, which are used to calculate a weather-corrected time. No identifier is sent with this request. Open-Meteo, like any web service, receives your IP address.
You can revoke location access in your device settings at any time; speed measurement will stop working.
3. Leaderboards (optional)
If you choose to submit a time to a leaderboard, the following is published and visible to all Race Stats users: the display name and car model you enter, the time, and (when available) the finish speed, estimated power and density altitude of the run. Submissions are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) under an anonymous identifier created by Firebase Authentication — we don't ask for your email or name. Don't use your real name as a display name unless you want it to be public. See Delete your data to remove an entry.
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and to improve it — for example which screens are opened, when a run or session is completed or shared, and whether the subscription offer was shown and accepted. Firebase collects an app-instance identifier, device and operating-system information, app version and an approximate region derived from your IP address, together with these usage events and whether you have a Pro subscription.
We do not use analytics for advertising, we do not link it to your identity, and on iOS the app never asks for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites. On Android, the Firebase SDK may be able to read the device advertising ID if your device settings allow it; we do not use it for advertising and you can reset or delete it in your Android settings. Analytics data is kept for a limited period configured in our Google Analytics settings. Google's handling of this data is described in the Firebase privacy information.
5. Subscriptions
Race Stats Pro is an auto-renewable subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); we never receive your payment details. We use RevenueCat to verify and manage your subscription. RevenueCat processes purchase and receipt information associated with an anonymous, randomly generated app user identifier.
6. App updates and configuration
When the app starts it reads a small public configuration document from Google Firebase to check whether an update is available, and it may download app updates from Expo (the platform the app is built on). These requests do not contain your personal data beyond what any network request reveals, such as your IP address, device platform and app version.
7. Notifications, Bluetooth and sharing
Notifications: maintenance reminders are scheduled locally on your device and are not sent through our servers. Bluetooth: if you pair an external GPS receiver, the app talks to it directly over Bluetooth; that data stays on your device. Sharing: timing and session slips are created on your device and only leave it when you choose to share them, through the app you pick.
8. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We share information only with the service providers that make the app work, for the purposes described above:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Apple, Google | App distribution, purchases and subscriptions |
| Google Firebase | Analytics, leaderboards (anonymous sign-in), update configuration |
| RevenueCat | Subscription verification |
| Open-Meteo | Weather for weather-corrected times |
| Expo | App updates |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety or property.
9. Your choices and rights
- Turn off location or motion access in your device settings.
- Don't submit to leaderboards, or ask us to remove your entries.
- Delete your on-device data from within the app or by uninstalling it.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account.
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU/UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, or to object to its processing. Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for location access, and on our legitimate interest in running and improving the app for analytics, leaderboards and update checks. To exercise your rights, email contact@smpath.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Security and retention
We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. On-device data stays until you delete it. Leaderboard entries stay until you ask us to remove them. Analytics data is kept only for the period set in our analytics settings.
11. Children
Race Stats is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new effective date; significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
